Self Catering Accommodation in Southport
Cosy Cabins are two one bedroomed log cabins situated in a pretty hillside garden with sea views on the inland side of the main road in Southport. They provide ideal holiday accommodation for small families. As each cabin has its own enclosed garden, pets are welcome by request.
Both Cabins are fully furnished and equipped with TV and decoder (DSTV sports and movies only) and bed linen with extra blankets, but you are requested to bring your own towels, toiletries, and provisions. The kitchens have a 3 plate stove with oven, full size fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery, pans, iron & ironing board etc. and there is a braai and garden furniture in each private garden. Unfortunately, due to logistical reasons the Cabins are not serviced during your stay but cleaning equipment is provided. The whole property is also fully fenced and gated and an armed response alarm system is installed in each cabin.
CC1, which is on ground floor level is cosily decorated in blue and cream, with a double bed in the bedroom plus a sleeper couch in the open plan living area. The bathroom has a bath with telephone shower and additional cupboard space. This unit is suitable for a couple or a family with a maximum of 1 teenager or up to 2 smaller children. We recommend that you do not leave the sleeper couch open all day.
CC2 is built on stilts with 6 steps leading to it from your own parking area allowing you sea views from the deck. Freshly decorated in nautical colours CC2 sleeps 5, with 2 single beds in the bedroom and one single bed and 2 bunks in the living area. It has a single shower room.
This is a very peaceful area for nature lovers with wonderful bird life. Monkeys frequently come into the garden to steal from our fruit trees. Cosy Cabins are pet friendly on request.
Cosy Cabins are less than 2km from the beautiful Southport swimming beach which now has Blue Flag Status. It has a guarded car park, braai facilities on the grass under the fascinating milkwood trees, beautiful golden sand with enough rocks to make the scenery interesting, tidal kiddies pool, showers and ablutions at the life guard station. It is also home to the Captain’s Anchor pub and grill for your lunches and cool drinks etc. – or take a stroll two hundred meters or so to the Castaways restaurant.
The shopping centre, 500 m from Cosy Cabins, has a Spar and a tea room, a nursery, post office and petrol station with car wash, as well as other fascinating and useful shops. Bendigo Nature Reserve with its flocks of butterflies is within walking distance.
Southport is ideally situated on the R102 a few minutes drive from either Hibberdene or Port Shepstone where there are larger stores. Shelly Beach with it’s shopping malls is only a 20 minute drive away and all the major South Coast attractions are within easy reach.
For the sports enthusiast there are 10 top class golf courses within a 40 minute drive, the closest being at Port Shepstone Country Club where there are tennis and badminton courts and other sports facilities open to the holidaymaker.
Fishing and snorkel spots abound in and near Southport – or book a boat at Shelly Beach for deep sea angling.
