Coral Tree Colony

Southbroom, South Coast, KwaZulu Natal
Bed & Breakfast Accommodation in Southbroom.

Coral Tree ColonyTen kilometers south of the hustle and bustle of Margate and situated in the peaceful heart of Southbroom, Coral Tree Colony Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful, modern, colonial-style home perfectly positioned overlooking Southbroom Golf Club’s 12th green, with views all the way to the warm Indian Ocean.

The six air-conditioned, en suite rooms are stylish, simple and bright with fine linen and large comfortable beds – extra-long king size or twins. Each room has its own entrance and private patio. There is secure off-street parking with remote access.

A hearty South African breakfast is served either in the dining room or on the front veranda – under the command of Chef Dave and watched by a large variety of birds and, occasionally, by the local monkey troupe. More delicate appetites are also catered for.

Guest areas open on to the deep, wrap-around verandas. The peaceful mornings are occasionally interrupted by the ‘thwack’ of a golfer teeing off from the 13th tee, or the urgent call of ‘fore’ when things have gone a bit awry. The guest lounge and dining area is the ideal place to retreat to when the weather turns. It’s also the ideal spot to keep up with the latest sporting fixtures – if you’re not on the golf course or on the beach.

Southbroom has some wonderful swimming beaches. The main beach is a ten minute stroll from Coral Tree and round the corner from there is Granny’s Pool - a secluded cove with a wonderful tidal pool, as well as plenty of rock pools to explore. Further down the coast is Umkobi Beach. The tennis courts and bowling club welcome visitors. There are two lovely nature trails in the village – the Bushbuck Trail takes one through the sub-tropical bush and forest. The other is through the Imbezane River Reserve down to the Imbezane River. Between June and November whales are frequently sighted on their way to and from Mocambique.

With easy access from the N2, which becomes the R61 at Port Shepstone, Southbroom is an easy hour and a half from Durban and 15 minutes from the shopping hub at Shelly Beach – with quaint Ramsgate and vibrant Margate in between. There are a number of good restaurants in the village, as well as in Ramsgate and further south. The village shops with a supermarket, bottle store and pharmacy are a five minute walk away from Coral Tree. We are not licensed so please bring your own supplies.

We accept all major credit cards. Hosts Dave and Liz Page have been in the hospitality industry on the South Coast for many years and look forward to welcoming you to their Guest House.
